Boy, has it been a long time since I've updated this stream report. My apologizes to our loyal visitors, but we've been spending far more time on the river than on the keyboard. Overall, the South Holston has been very strong all summer long. Consistent daily sulpher hatches have kept the fish looking up, even some of the better ones. If you understand drag, you can catch as many as you want right now. TVA has been giving us good water flows each afternoon from 1 or 2pm to 7 or 9pm depending on the day. That has made for a record season on the streamers. Very large 10lb+ browns have been taken all summer long on a few custom patterns Rod has developed specifically for this type of fishing. It's been extraordinary and we haven't even hit our peak streamer fish. October is filling fast and the peak streamer fishing will slow considerably by Nov. 15th.

The Watauga River has been fishing suprisingly well despite record low water levels and warm temps. We've spent time in the floatilla of the trophy section as well as our preferred spot lower in the river. We have had good numbers on the nymph rigs and dry flies, but he overwhelming numbers, as to be expected, have come on the nymph rigs. We taken plenty of fish this summer in the 18-22 inch class and our anglers have enjoyed their time spent on the water. We anticipate this to continue for at least another 6-8 weeks so if you're in the area, give us a call to arrange your next trip.

Folks, if you've been on the fence about how or when to book a guided trip on the south holston, get off the fence now! You need to be on this river and quickly. The sulphers are popping daily, and with good quantity. The water is flowing consistently, everday, even on weekends. The streamer fishing is hot right now too. You should have size 16 and 18 Lawsons Sulphers, CDC Sulpher Comparaduns, Yellow Soft Hackles and some big ole' streamers in your box. I'll let the picture below speak for itself! The Lower Holston is fishing great and it's top-water season. Just in time for the summer rush, the fish have turned on to the poppers with reckless abandon. These guys aren't afraid to crush a dark colored popper. We're also fishing clousers in white/white and white/blue with good success. Don't forget about the Kraft's Spoon Minnow. This fly, especially in White/Chart is fishing great. We're focusing on the banks and weedbeds as well as the ledgerock troughs. Come join us for a fantastic day of hardcore smallie fishing!

The Watauga River on the TN side is fishing very consistent this summer. That's not terribly uncommon, but it's worth mentioning that despite trouble wiith Wilbur Dam, the river is fishing well. Some small hatches of sulphers populate the river, but your best luck will come on terrestrials and nymphs. We're fishing small zebra midges, some size 18 pheasant tails, and a few soft hackles. Also, if the water is flowing, bring your streamer rod!
