Hold on to your stick boys... by gloomis1297

Cooling temps and a little bit of relief in the form of rain has turned the smallies on their heads. They are aggressively feeding agian after taking about a month hiatus. They're moving far and wide to attack their prey, in our case a medium body dark popper. Yep, you heard it, top water action is still hot right now and their even willing to charge one from 10 feet away. Really, if you love smallie fishing, you need to come see us now. Expect good fishing for another 3-4 weeks!

Let there be Water! by gloomis1297

Boy, has it been a long time since I've updated this stream report. My apologizes to our loyal visitors, but we've been spending far more time on the river than on the keyboard. Overall, the South Holston has been very strong all summer long. Consistent daily sulpher hatches have kept the fish looking up, even some of the better ones. If you understand drag, you can catch as many as you want right now. TVA has been giving us good water flows each afternoon from 1 or 2pm to 7 or 9pm depending on the day. That has made for a record season on the streamers. Very large 10lb+ browns have been taken all summer long on a few custom patterns Rod has developed specifically for this type of fishing. It's been extraordinary and we haven't even hit our peak streamer fish. October is filling fast and the peak streamer fishing will slow considerably by Nov. 15th.

Watauga Fishing Great by gloomis1297
The Watauga River has been fishing suprisingly well despite record low water levels and warm temps. We've spent time in the floatilla of the trophy section as well as our preferred spot lower in the river. We have had good numbers on the nymph rigs and dry flies, but he overwhelming numbers, as to be expected, have come on the nymph rigs. We taken plenty of fish this summer in the 18-22 inch class and our anglers have enjoyed their time spent on the water. We anticipate this to continue for at least another 6-8 weeks so if you're in the area, give us a call to arrange your next trip.
